Hiya!

Babs and the Bishi Harem are back with another company update!

As most of you already know, US Postal rates went up in January. We hemmed and hawed about raising our shipping costs, mainly because I wasn’t looking forward to spending a day with a shipping calculator, but then we learned a little secret about our store’s shopping cart. We just wrapped up two weeks of re-weighing our products, and tweaking our cart’s code. The result? Shipping and handling costs that more closely reflect an item’s actual weight, meaning less of an increase (and in some cases, even a reduction) in shipping costs for our customers! Yay!

We are now clearing out our stock of 2006 datebooks and almanacs. With the exception of “Llewellyn’s Wicca Almanac” (see below) all datebooks and almanacs are 50% off their original suggested retail price (the price that’s on the back of the book).

“Llewellyn’s 2006 Wicca Almanac” is now available for sale at the Bishi Harem Fruitcake Co. Covering March 20st 2006 through March 20, 2007, this almanac caters primarily (of course) to Wiccans, and features articles by Diana Rajchel, Tammy Sullivan, Christopher Penczak, and more.

We’ve added two new athamaes to our collection. One has a black bone hilt, the other has one of wood and brass. Both are full size athames, come with their own sheaths, and would make lovely additions to any altar.

So pop on over for a visit sometime. You can find us at The Bishi Harem Fruitcake Co.

Kisses!

Babs and the Bishi Harem

Here come the Power Rangers! Here come the Power Rangers! Here come the Power Rangers!

Make it stop! Please! *bangs head against wall*

That’s it! I’m deleting Mystic Force from the DVR. I don’t care if Ben has a hissy. It’s only encouraging the ear worm that is burrowing deep into my brain! Who would’ve thought that “Go! Go! Power Rangers!” could ever be replaced as the most annoying PR theme song? *shudders*

  1. colorguard:
I grew up in a drum corps. family, so naturally I wanted to be a part of one.

Back when I started, the flagpoles we carried were 7 feet long! Very tough for a 7-year-old to spin! They were also so heavy we needed to wear special harnesses with cups to hold the flags. These five and a half footers are so much eaiser to work with!

As I was always the tallest girl in the colorguard, I often got stuck carrying the American flag in the honor guard. Sometimes I still do with the Light Brigade.

Colorguard is well known as a breeding ground for drama. Fortunately, the guard I’m with now is too old for that shit. When we aren’t busy with our program, we’re chatting away (and sometimes getting piss drunk!).

  2. fairly oddparents:
I caught an episode of this one day, while Ben was watching it. I immediately fell in love! Wanda is my kind of gal (her hair is even my favorite color!), and Cosmo cracks me up.
  3. good funny movies:
What’s to say? I like movies that have a plot and are funny.
  4. jello shots:
Mmmmmmmmmmmm! Jello shots! The official shot of the Light Brigade! Vodka is usually the alcohol of choice, with the favorite jello flavor being cherry. Watermelon isn’t too bad, either. Mary and I are still talking about trying lime jello with tequila. Maybe this summer.
  5. mighty morphin’ power rangers:
    Go! Go! Power Rangers!

Though I did partially enjoy the later seasons, MMPR will always be my favorite. I’m an Oliverette through and through!

  6. online business:
I’ll probably never be able to afford a house, so owning an online business is the next best thing. The BHFC is something I can work hard at, be proud of, and maybe (if I’m successful enough) be able to pass down to my boys, someday.
  7. reading:
I love to read! Non-fiction is my first choice, with Gundam Wing lemons, MMPR lemons, and Team Rocket lemons right behind.
  8. slash:
    See above.

Love to read good slash/yaoi/femmeslash/yuri. I also like to write it, but it usually doesn’t come out like I planned it.

  9. unicorns:
I started my first collection back in 1977. This was back when unicorns were still abundant and you could find quality items. Somewhere I still have a photo of my shelves that were covered with uni knickknacks. It was my pride and joy! I still love them, but it’s very hard to find them now.
  10. witchcraft:
    I’m a Witch and I love to craft…

The Muses Are Getting Restless
Feb 21st, 2006 by Babs

I think my muses are trying to tell me something. Exactly which fandom, and which story, however is still to be figured out.

Last night I had a dream in the Power Ranger universe. Mighty Morphin’ that is. It started out with me as the author, trying to figure out how I’m going to pull off this Mary Sue. I didn’t want her to be Miss Perfect who saves the day. That would be too obvious! Instead I made up this bizarre learning disorder, that makes her appear as dumb as a rock to everyone, even though she’s really wicked intelligent.

So the story begins, somewhere. Our Mary Sue (which, of course, is me) meets Tommy Oliver, who magically knows about her disability and offers to help her overcome it.

At some point during this dream I see a school with huge tubes coming out of it (a la ET). Instead of standing around, watching people in protective gear walking in and out of the school, the students are lined up at the front door. The really odd thing is that I cannot remember if the meeting between myself and Tommy was a result of this scene, if the scene occured as sort of a backdrop to the meeting or, if it was the result of the meeting. I completely forgot when it takes place as soon as I woke up.

Anyhow, I remember Kimberly making some snarky remark to me, and later I grab a bottle of wine (because for some unknown reason I’m now staying at Tommy’s home), and try to seduce him. That part, alone, makes me wonder if King Thomas is trying to persuade me to finish writing my York Peppermint Patty lemon.

The unplaceable scene, however, rather reeks of the G-Boys and the story “In Their Own Worlds”, which is being written out of order and has resulted in a few plot conflicts. I’m wondering if either Quatre, or even Duo, might have convinced Thomas to take some of the heat from the frustration I’ve been dealing with as a result trying to write this story.

I’m eating Frosted Mini Spooners.

………..

Just checking to see if I’m the only one with their mind in the gutter.
