I received a call from my uncle last night. Tuesday afternoon a fire broke out in their computer room and took out the back end of their house. There’s an article here about how local firefighters  rescued three of their four furbabies. The fourth, Mohawk, was found hiding in the cellar after the fire was put out.

They’re currently assessing the damage. Thus far, it looks like the frame of the house is still soild, but estimates say it will be at least six months before they can move back in.

At least everyone is okay.

Random Ramblings

<div class=\"pavatar\">Random Ramblings</div>

This morning’s post is being brought to you by the following search terms: sex babs,  babs,  www.babspote.com,  “my beauty bars”,  bab’s.

I should be in bed, sleeping, right now but you-know-who is snoring louder than a mufflerless engine and is keeping me awake. :P

I got my taxes filed. I highly recommend H&R Block’s online tax filing. This year they’ve added free preparation and filing of Federal taxes to their offerings. It doesn’t have the bells and whistles that “Basic” has, and you still have to cough up the $30 to file State, but it did save me $19.95 $14.95 (or $12.95 if you were to upgrade to it from free). As usual, Glenn thinks we are getting $1000 less than we actually are. This keeps him from spending it all on shit we don’t really need.

After filing the taxes I tried to play the current disk we have of “That ’70s Show” but, like the last three disks of that series, it won’t play on my computer. So I ended up on Netflix, watching old school Knight Rider and listening to the boys talk trash about KITT. I’m sorry, but the new Knight Rider is nothing but an hour long commerical for Ford, the new KITT has the personality of a rock (Val Kilmer’s got nothing on Willaim Daniels) and there is very little, if any, bond between him and Michael. May it run its 13 eps and then die a painful death.

While watching Knight Rider I managed to get some knitting and crocheting done. I finally used up the last of the scraps in the rug I’m knitting, so that’s been set aside until I acquire more. Then I got a few more rows done on the afghan I’m working on for the livingroom. It’ll look really nice once we get new cushions for the sofa. I don’t know if I mentioned this in an earlier post, but I found a really cute (and easy) pattern for a “pleated” school girl skirt. As soon as I can find a nice yarn I plan on making it up. *crosses fingers I’ll have it done for Spring*

Both of the kitties are lying on my side of the bed, washing themselves. As funny as it is to watch I’m going to have to cut their bathtime short. I’m really tired.

Drama Llama Ding Dong

Wednesday night I arrived at color guard practice to learn our captain/instructor, Sandy, had quit, due to “irreconcilable differences”. I’m wondering if we can impeach our Board, Manager and President. Over the last two years the corps. has lost a good many members to other alumni groups, so the last thing we need to drive more away. But what do they do? They piss off an important staff member. One who could take at least half the guard with her. I can only think of two reasons that would be severe enough to make Sandy quit. One is that she’s being forced to write a whole new show for the guard, the other is that they let Ellie back. Either of those would probably make the rest of the color guard leave. We tried the whole new show thing last year. It was HELL! We weren’t given ample practice space, let alone ample practice time, so stress ran amuck. We made it clear to the Board we weren’t going to do it again. As for Ellie, well she’s a fucking bitch that nobody wants to work with. :D

Thursday Amber T. Pusscat scared the beejezus out of me when she went hiding under the Teen’s bed for a day, after a night of spewing and shitting everywhere. I have no idea what caused it, but she is obvioulsy feeling better now. Both this morning and evening she jumped into my lap at meal time to remind me she hadn’t been fed, yet. I’ll have to keep a close eye on her to see if she’s getting into anything that I’m not aware of.

Thursday night Glenn secured himself a part-time job at a local liquor store. Yes, the alcoholic will soon be spending his nights surrounded by booze. *facepalm*

I received an email from Sandy last night. Apparently those irreconcilable differences were reconcilable after all. She’ll be back next week. I just hope they caved, not her.

My wrist is now wrapped up in a nifty wrist brace because the combo of color guard, hand washing clothes, and surfing the internets has wrecked havoc on it. It is much fun trying to weight train with it on. Not. I have no choice, however, because the free weights put stress on my wrist, too.

I found this in my email this just a bit ago: http://www.savetheinternet.com/blog/2008/02/25/comcast-blocking-first-the-internet-now-the-public/ I didn’t think Comcast could sink any lower. Sadly they have proved me wrong. I think it’s time we vote them off the planet.

Amber is peacefully sleeping, stretched out on my bed, and I’m typing away at my computer. Out of the blue I hear “REEYOWR!!!!!” Startled, I look up and see an equally startled Amber looking back. See, Amber talks in her sleep. Only this time I think she scared the shit out of herself.
