My Kingdom for a New Theme!
Feb 20th, 2009 by Babs

<div class=\"pavatar\">My Kingdom for a New Theme!</div>

I’ve been spending the last few hours finishing up Maxwell’s site. All the fics have been untagged and recategorized to work with the Multiple Category Selection Widget, with hope that it will make it easier for readers to find their kinks. šŸ™‚ The site is as updated as it’s going to get until we find a theme that screams “Max”. I’m still pissed that roam2rome bailed on her Coffee Desk theme. That was the best one, so far.

On a related note, can anyone tell me the significance of using Feedburner? I was running the feed for Max’ site through them, but Google’s mandatory move kinda fucked things up. If there’s a really good reason (i.e. other than knowing how many subscribers via RSS Max has) I might attempt to fix it. Otherwise I’m going to stick with the original post/comment feeds.

The preteen is grounded again. He just will not leave the ringer on the new phone alone! I hate grounding him (it’s as much punishment for me as it is for him) but I have no idea what else to do.

I picked up the yarn to make the skirt I mentioned in a previous post. One of the good things about Caron Simply Soft is that it has no dye lot. Since the pattern doesn’t give yarn requirements for the big girl sizes I had to estimate. If I run out before I’m finished I can easily get more, without worrying about a chunk of the skirt having a noticeable change in coloration.

We took the boys out to Chipotle for dinner. While the preteen enjoyed his pizza from Subway, the rest of us snarfed down burritos. I still think Boloco is better (and cheaper) but Ben was quite content with his bean-free chicken burrito and bottle if Izze.

Still exercising. Aside from Monday (my shoulder) and Wednesday (Ooo! Shiny!) I’ve been keeping on top of things. Ben was entertaining himself earlier today by poking at my belly and watching it jiggle. I’m at that point were the muscle is starting to get toned, but the skin and the fat still need to catch up. šŸ˜›

Now I have to plug in my Sansa Clip (which, I’m told, rivals the Creative Zen Stone and makes the iPod Shuffle fanboys cry) and see if the firmware update solves my recently developed problem with long subscription tracks popping and snapping — something I so enjoy listening to while I’m trying to meditate. Wish me luck!

Maxwell Pink Tells Stories
Jun 10th, 2008 by Babs

Despite a power outage that had us without electricity for a couple of hours, I managed to get Chapter 12 of “The Tale of Indigo” posted to the site. This is the final chapter (for now) in that story. It is also the only sex scene that Max has written to completion, thus far. We both hope the smut writers on my f-lists, whom we love and worship , will wander over there and offer their critique…even if it is a Team Rocket/Pokemon/Mary Sue.

I also have stories from my weekend in Wildwood, NJ, but those will have to wait until maybe tomorrow. For now I’m beat. Fucking heat wave.

Still more randomness

Yesterday I took a spill down half a flight of steps. Naturally, as there is only about a 1-1/2 by 2-1/2 foot space between the bottom step and the (locked) door, after kissing the door I got wedged inbetween pretty good, and had to wait until someone opened the door until I could move. Much fun! My entire body aches today! I expected the knees and the arms to hurt, but my entire back and bottom, too?

In other news Max and I have this week’s chapters of “The Tale of Indigo” popped into WordPress and ready to publish, starting tomorrow. I believe there is only one chapter to that story left: Max’s first attempt (and, to date, Max’s only completed attempt) at writing smut. That’ll be the first thing to go out next week. šŸ˜‰ In the meantime, I have to pay a visit to my local library and track down my favorite Children’s librarian for help with some research. Marianne is quite knowledgeable in regards to the origins of nursery rhymes and which translations/adaptations of various fairy tales are the truest to the originals. A few fairy tales, some “Frog and Toad”, and Max and I should be ready to make mischief!

As I’ve been so stressed lately that my stomach kills, I’ve been trying to take my mind of the negative with a number of more relaxing activities.

Maxwell and I discovered the ability to post-date entries in WordPress and have been having fun arranging chapters for publishing next week. I figure spacing them out every other day will keep the site active yet still allow Max some time to create new content.

I have been contemplating the ethics involved with submitting a chapter or two to StumbleUpon, myself. I’ve heard of some bloggers doing it. In any case the site is prepared for a “Digg” (I even have “In case of an emergancy” code stashed away if needed) though I would think SU would have less of an immediate impact, by its very nature.

Back when IJ crashed, I finally learned about Twitter. It was whispered in my ear that creating an account for Maxwell Pink Tells Stories might be a good idea, even though neither of us had a clue what it could be used for. It is, after all, a fiction archive. Well, we figured it out this morning: behind the scenes stuff. Like non-content related site updates, battles with the Bishi Harem, and word counts of projects. So Max now has a Twitter Badge hardcoded into the site’s sidebar. Yay!

In other news, I went to the teen’s IEP meeting yesterday. He is teetering between needing and not, in regards to special education. The deciding factor was that if he took his meds he could function normally, but since he won’t he needs the support. It’s a bit depressing when you learn the king of “Cs” and “Fs” is really capable of at least “B” work. *sigh*

Tomorrow is the annual Mail Carrier’s Food Drive. As usual I will be voluntering my time weeding out the expired food that some folks think is A-okay to donate. After a couple of hours there I’ll be off to visit an old friend who just moved into a new home. I hear it’s huge!

*sniffs air* I better get into the kitchen and rescue the pizzas from the oven. The teen has his friends over and I’m sure he’s forgetten all about them.

Randomness

I am no longer the dreaded redhead. If the boys don’t Bogart the computer this week I’ll have pictures available.

After a week of staring at Max’s page status and not seeing any hits despite contray evidence elsewhere, I decided to investigate the forums for some answers. It took two days but I finally found the answer to my problem in a several month old thread. I was missing a tag in the footer! A tag that I had initially placed there for the “Share This” plugin because its installation required it to be there, but when I had issues with the plugin and chose not to reinstall it didn’t go back. The stats plugin info made no mention of this footer tag being required so I never thought to include it for that plugin. *rolls eyes* It’s working again. We’re even getting visits from visitors using relevent search terms. Yay! An older, but oddly compatible, version of “Share This” has since been installed. I figure with the server protecting caching plugin I also installed I might as well tempt fate. šŸ™‚

I came across yet another “My child is an honor student at XYZ school” bumper sticker yesterday and thought I need one that reads “My child is a dumbass at XYZ school.” The Teen (AKA the aforementioned child) has offered to have his friends print some up at school, for him to sell. He figures he’ll make millions. šŸ™‚

Amber is getting fat, and throwing her weight around.

Arlington’s Patriot’s Day parade sucked. Again.

Chowder (the series) is absolutely hilarious! As is Phineas and Ferb.

At the rate Netflix is going lately the 5% credit they are giving me for their screw up will probably disappear before my next billing. I received the wrong DVD. When I went to the site to let them know this, I discovered the disk that was supposed to be in my hands was still being listed on my queue as not being sent yet. I now have two copies of the correct disk, an additional movie listed in my currently out area of my queue, and neither of the movies that I returned several days ago have been removed from my queue. Oddly, the movie I initially received was at the bottom of my queue and disappeared from it when this whole mess started.

I am drunk and need more beer.
