There’s nothing like being in a long line at Whole Foods, when out of the blue your cell phone rings, “Oh my nucking futs!” *dies*

The voice is clearly that of the pre-teen who insists he received help from his older sib. The teen, however, is pleading the fifth.

I love my boys. Really. I do.

Thoughts and Observations
Jan 31st, 2008 by Babs

Finally had Jarret’s IEP meeting the other day. Jarret is still extremely intelligent, yet unable to be consistant with his work/grades. Still no one seems to know why. *facepalm* His teachers also claim they’ve seen no acts of defiance from him, yet admit to his persistence in using pen when he’s not only been asked (repeatedly) not to but has been given plently of pencils to use, instead. This is sounding an awful lot like back when Ben was in preschool. :( Jarret does seem to be taking after me in the creativity department. He wrote a hilariously amazing three page story about what his English teacher does when he’s home for the day. Now if only we could encourage it.

Received our monthly newsletter from our mechanic. This month, under the heading of mechanical rip-offs, Herb tells the story of the severely misfiring car that had only 5 of its spark plugs previously replaced by another garage, and with incorrect plugs. Why does that sound so familiar? *laughs*

Was traveling through Winchester today and saw a Subaru wagon with a snow covered, cut “Xmas” tree strapped to its roof. I kid you not.

After two months without my computer I forgot how much fun the Sims are to play with. I spent the last two days playing with five families, and attempting to create a new Sim for my from scratch town. I wonder what the ramifications of an all-male-except-for-one-female town would be. And should I name that female Madam Orr?

Woot!

Ben goes back to school tomorrow. Jarret, the next day. Mom has a bottle of vodka an some Mountain Dew stashed for that party Thursday morning. :)

Been busy getting back into my old routine. I found it very hard to accomplish much of anything that didn’t require my computer, as I was regularly tripping over teenagers. Today I managed to 86 a bunch of stuff, found the missing forks (someone had been putting them in the main compartment of the dishrack, burying them with plates and bowls, then not putting said plates and bowls away when they dried…. for about a week), chiseled off some of the soap that somehow manages to accumulate on the bathroom soap dish at an alarming rate, and got myself looking presentable.

I discovered I really need to pick up a pair of Bluettes.

I have been able to further tweak my laundry method. Now that they’ve fixed the entrance to the atttic so that it no longer requires a screwdriver and a prayer to use it, I found the 16 gallon bucket I had in storage and have been using that to soak the laundry before indiviually agitating items in the 5 gallon bucket, then rinsing everything in the big one (twice), again. I’m getting much more clothing washed at a time; I just need to adjust the timing so it isn’t taking me an hour to get it done. But even when it takes that long it feels good to be able to get my clothes so clean (and with minimal impact on the environment, too!).

Miss “Wicca is whatever I want it to be” is apparently hoping to sic her friends on me. Excuse me while I shit myself. *rolls eyes*

My tummy is trying to decide between a ham “sammich” and M&Ms.

I shall (hopefully) spend tonight making new price labels for my macrame jewelry. If I’m done tonight then tomorrow I’ll make those headbands.

Yup! I gotta plan!

Randomness

I’m writing this while waiting for my Sansa to finish charging. I’m almost halfway through the Harry Potter CDs. Hopefully this charge will be enough to get through the second half. :)

The boys are currently in my room. Jarret is deliberately sneezing (raspberries included) all over his brother, and jumping on my bed. Ribbon is looking for a place to hide. Alas Amber already has the primo spot.

I finished moving my writing journal to Blogger, not that there was much to move. I did have to spend time working with the format, however. My LJ posts didn’t automaticaly format to Blogger’s settings, so I had to remove all formatting and manually go in and add the italics and bold. I created links to to both it and my cookbook, on IJ. While doing so I discovered IJ has given me more link slots to work with. Had I had them when I first started moving they would’ve been great, but now that the blogs that would’ve used them are already at home on Blogger, I don’t really need them. Later, I might update my links on LJ, as well as on GJ.

While working on the formatting various members of the Harem were whispering suggestions for stories. James wants me to continue “Indigo”, probably because it’s the one and only story where he doesn’t appear as a doofus. The G-Boys want me to get on the ball and work on the rewrite for “Links”. None of them care about my super hero story.

*sniffs* Ah, the smell of whole wheat bread baking. Yum! Jarret is already boycotting this loaf. He hates whole wheat! He’s going to be in for a shock when school starts back up. *evil grin*

Well, the Sansa is charged. Back to Harry and Co.
