*sigh*

Just got back from attempting to take the car into the mechanic to replace the other ball joint (BTW, if you happen to own a Ford that’s 7 years old or older, or has around 100,000 miles on it, consider talking to a mechanic about replacing the ball joints if they haven’t already been done). On our way down we enter an intersection and are cut off by a white SUV making a left turn in front of us. We both slam on our brakes, and when the other driver realizes we aren’t going to hit her she speeds off. Before we even have a chance to give the car gas, we’re rear ended hard.

Fortunately the slogan “Built Ford Tough” has some teeth (at least as far as bumpers go). This is the second accident the car’s been in in a year and the other persons always sustained way more damage. The owner of this car begged not to get either the police or the insurance companies. I wonder why? His Mercedes looks like shit, clearly having been in at least one previous accident. Then there was the issue of him having his poodle in his lap while he was driving (according to what he told the officer, the dog lept up into his view, just before he hit us. *facepalm* Needless to say he received a ticket.

The car is over at the mechanic’s now. I have to call Herb tomorrow and ask him to check the bumper while he has it. Our insurance is one of the best, but their accident appraisal department isn’t too thorough.
