The Friday before February vacation one of Jarret’s schoolmates decided to whack him a couple of times upside the head with a wiffle bat filled with ice water. Jarret is fine. So fine, in fact, that had another schoolmate’s mother not called me to tell me about the incident, I wouldn’t have known about it.

I spoke to the principal about it and it was agreed that since this incident occcured after school hours that the other boy’s father would have to escort his son to and from school, and that he would not be allowed on the playground after hours. Fine. However Glenn is now insisting that I start walking Jarret to school again. Now Jarret has security issues. Definitely a momma’s boy. So when he insists that he doesn’t want me walking him to school, I am going to respect that. To Glenn, though, it’s all about the appearance *rolls eyes* so naturally there was quite a bit of “discussion” about this. It pretty much ended when I pointed out what a hypocrite Glenn was being (even though he insisted that he wasn’t).

This morning Jarret sets off to school on his own. I pick up some stuff around the house before sitting down to read my email. The first message of the morning was from the town list and was from a concerned individual who wanted to know why there were police cars all around the school (that Jarret goes to).

I think you can guess where my mind was.

Fortunately Jarret is fine. It took awhile to find this out, however, and I was a wreck the whole time. It turns out that some nutjob decided to kill his 81 year old stepfather, who lived in the school area and then go after his mother (who managed to get away with only a couple of stab wounds). After she fled he apparently turned the knife on himself. Police found him several blocks away from the school (and us) running around in just his underwear.

So, Jarret is fine. Now I have to check in with Ben, who I hope is as lunch, so I can text him. As fate would have it he catches his bus to school right where police picked up the guy and would’ve been there about the time of the incident.

I ate an entire bag of Hershey Special Dark Kissables (save what I shared with darthanne. I pigged out all day, and now I’m fucking drunk on Svedka Vodka (couldn’t afford Absolut this week) and cream soda.

Yes, I am PMSing. Why do you ask?

Have been playing with the look of my LJ. With the demise of A Web Site Created by Babs I’m thinking about directing babspace.com to this journal, and wanted to pretty it up a bit. I had briefly considered upgrading to a plus account so that I could have access to more layouts, but then I remembered I really don’t use the links, I don’t think I’ll ever use the tags (though that isn’t etched in stone), and the layout I really like most doesn’t need the upgrade to use. So now it it what it is.

For those of you who have cats I highly recommend the book “Whole Health for Happy Cat: A Guide to Keeping Your Cats Naturally Healthy, Happy, and Well Fed.” You can’t miss it. Just look for the book with a cat that is clearly healthy, happpy and well fed on the cover. 😀 We’re in the early stages of converting over from crap to a raw meat diet. I gave both Ribbon and Amber half a turkey neck a couple of days ago. Neither knew what to do with it, so it’s going to take them awhile to get used to the idea of eating a more natural diet. In the meantime I’ve switched them from Friskies to Wellness. Amber is already showing an improvement. She has more energy, isn’t scratching herself to the point of bleeding, and isn’t throwing up anymore. Yay!
