Weekly Weigh In
Jan 7th, 2009 by Babs

Okay. It’s the first weigh in of the year and I’m two days late. *sheepish grin* At least I can say I dropped a pound and a half. Down to 163. Since my electronic body fat monitor is showing a body fat percentage of 29.7% at “athletic” and 32.7% for “normal”, I dug out my tape measure and performed Covert Bailey’s test which came up with 31.8%. So, at least for the next month, I will be using the “normal” setting on my electronic doohickey, for quick reference. I also discovered that I’ve lost some lean (like I didn’t see that coming), so my weight loss goal has been lowered to 142.6. 😛

I’m still trying to work in my workout schedule. It’s not that I’m being lazy. It’s just that whenever I want the room to exercise, someone else always has it. If it were just the preteen I’d kick him out, but it’s usually either Ben and his tribe, or Glenn. And Gods know that Glenn can’t possibly find something else to do for an hour. *rolls eyes*

Stop & Shop has Lean Cuisine on sale this week so I stocked up, big time. They’re great to have on hand when I’m hungry and I don’t have time to prepare “real food”. I absolutely LOVE their Santa Fe Beans and Rice dish! Sadly, S&S didn’t have many of them on hand  this week. I guess others have made the same discovery.

Prevention Magazine has been full of fail the last few months. So much so that I’ll probably check next month’s issue out of the library, instead of purchasing it. I was pissed to learn that they axed their “to-do” list back in the December issue, which was way better than the table of contents, IMHO. They raised the price, too. At least I’m set for a workout schedule until the first week in April. Woot!

Sometimes My Decisions Scare Me
Jan 6th, 2009 by Babs

Seriously, I didn’t know about this when I decided to concentrate on this site. I’m rather glad I did, though, as if LJ does go belly up folks should still be able to find me.

Home Sweet Home
Jan 3rd, 2009 by Babs

“A Web Site Created by Babs” has always been my baby. When I ended up on LiveJournal, thanks to a Gundam Wing role playing game, I figured it would make a great way to keep the site’s “What’s News” page up to date. Then came the issues with Tripod and AWSCBB fell to the wayside in favor of LJ, IJ and Blogger. I didn’t mind too much. I had made a lot of friends at these journaling spots.

While working on “Maxwell Pink Tells Stories,” however, the itch to recreate the website started up and quickly intensified. Late last summer I decided to scratch it. I’ve made a few random posts, mostly due to DrakNet’s disabling the XML-RPC required to crosspost here via Semagic (for security reasons), but also because a lot of what I post is personal and it was just easier to put it in a f-locked post in the other journals. Today, however, I decided to make this my sole blog. It’s nothing personal, in fact I will continue to read my f-lists and participate in the communities I belong to. It’s just that, as I stated earlier, “A Web Site Created by Babs” is my baby, and it’s time I stopped being a neglectful parent.

Since I don’t have the “clearance” (aka upgraded accounts) on either IJ and LJ I can’t create a feed that those on my f-lists can friend and use to  easily keep up to date of my nonsense, so (at least for now) I will be manually feeding by posting links to my current posts. I would like to encourage everyone to subscribe to both my post and comment feeds (links to both can be found below), though, as well as registering. The latter allows you to post comments while providing the site some protection from spam.

Thanks for the good times! I truly hope everyone will continue to read me, here.

Hopefully I won’t piss off too many folks with this decision.

Happy New Year!
Jan 2nd, 2009 by Babs

Okay, so I’m a little late. *sheepish grin* Been getting shit together so that my resolutions have a good chance of seeing their way to fruition.

I picked up a new scale to replace the one Ben (formerly known as “the Teen”) broke. It’s sturdier, has a larger readout, and is black, so you know I am a happy camper. I also picked up a mini pilates ball for some of my strength training exercises. I have burst two of the cheap play balls. Hopefully this one will last awhile. My heart rate monitor has been updated with my new range, the new Sansa Clip I received for Xmas loaded up (692 tunes! Woot!), and I’ve worked out a workout schedule. Well, that’s one resolution taken care of.

I picked up several bottles of essential oils to help me kick that nasty habit I picked up last May. No, not that one. That one I’ve had much longer and is going to take a substantial amount of money to get rid of. No. I mean my fondness for clove cigarettes. Anyways, Whole Foods didn’t have price tags on most of their bottles, which wouldn’t have been so bad if they had also removed three-quarters of the shelf tags, too. Apparently they are changing their prices, judging by the fact that two bottles that were labeled rang up 50 cents and $2 more than what was on their labels. I assumed that I was going to get the cheaper one free and the difference on the other (this is how they usually do it), but the clerk gave me both for free, saving me $22. Happy New Year to me!

Finally, I’ve got my housekeeping schedule down pat. Right down to the budget and when the bills are due. To hell with Glenn if he doesn’t like the way I do things. He’s the reason why we’re in the situation we’re in now. 😛

So, I’m as prepared for 2009 as I can be. May all your resolutions see the light of day, too.
