Oh the joys of motherhood.
April 6th, 2006 by Babs

Ben had his annual physical yesterday. Being a teen he was given the option of having me leave the room during his examination. An option I wish he had taken the doctor up on. What is it with teenage boys and hygeine? I’m sorry, but “When was the last time you washed these boxers?” is not the correct answer to the question “When was the last time you changed your underwear?”

The concerns we had over a lump he discovered near a nipple have been put to rest. Sort of. I’m not quite sure how I’m supposed to react to “It’s normal. A percentage of boys get them during breast development.” Other than maybe snicker. :o)

    Hehe he.
My son gave the doctor (his doctor is a woman, poor baby) the filthiest look when she asked him to lower his pants.
I reassured him it’s okay since she’s a doctor, but I have to admit, I admired his crust in challenging her access to the family jewels. I feel fairly good about getting the message across to my kids that no one has to right to touch them where they don’t want touched.

My son was also appalled to learn he has “breasts”. He he.

I wish I knew. *g* All I do know is that it is interesting, though not pleasant, to be able to say, “My God! I can smell you from downstairs!”

*shares Kahlua and Cream to commiserate.

I’m glad it all turned out well. Lumps in those kinds of places are scary for anybody. :/
