Babs’ Jukebox is Unplugged
Aug 10th, 2003 by Babs

I’ve decided to unplug Babs’ Jukebox. I found it was such an ordeal to update it wasn’t worth keeping. The fact that it’s August and there were still links up to downlaod Holiday music was a definite tip-off.
I had created the Jukebox as an act of defiance; I was tired of the greed within the music industry. There are so many fly-by-night groups and other crap out there that “one hit wonder” now takes on new meaning. I felt if someone wanted just one song, they should be able to purchase just that one song, and not have to pay through the nose for a CD loaded with junk.
Fortunately some companies are starting to take the hint. Last I checked, WB was making large amounts of its library available for download. And then there’s Lycos’ jukebox thingy. You can listen all you want. You only have to pay to “burn” the songs. Of course, this still doesn’t solve the problem of music that’s currently no longer available. That’s where folks like me come in. Get yourself a free copy of WinMX (adware and spyware free, and highly recommended by visitors to Downloads.com), and join the rest of us in the virtually hassle free trading of “vintage” and otherwise hard to find music. You’ll find me under some varitaion of Maxell Pink (everytime I have to re-install XP I have to get a new screen name).

See ya there!
