The Week in a Review: Part Deux
March 8th, 2009 by Babs

<div class=\"pavatar\">The Week in a Review: Part Deux</div>

Okay. The Wedding.

A friend of mine got married yesterday. I met her through her mother, who used to live in the complex. The wedding was in Tewksbury, and I must add that Google maps was full of fail in getting us there. There is no way you can take a “slight left” onto Old Main Street and if we had, we certainly would’ve gotten lost. As it was, we drove past the country club because Google said it was on the left, when it was on the right.

Anyway, the wedding was lovely. It kind of reminded me of my aunt’s wedding, only instead of a reel to reel, the music came courtesy of an Ipod. The opening to the Wedding March threw me a bit — it sounded too much like the beginning of the Theme to Rocky. 🙂 I couldn’t understand why so many people were dressed in black, either. It wasn’t an incredibly formal wedding.

Afterward, while the wedding party was having their photos taken the guests headed upstairs for cocktails. I couldn’t help but notice that a few headed toward the table with the snacks but the majority took a sharp right toward the open bar. I sucked down a couple of Shirley Temples. Maybe it’s just me, but I have too much respect for my friend to get drunk at her wedding.

When the photo shoot was over I made my way back down to our tables for the reception. I was seated with the Maid of Honor, her boyfriend, a woman I knew from one of the liquor beer and wine shops here in Arlington, and a Paris Hilton Wannabee and her friend. The latter two were both nice girls, just not the type you want in public, drunk. And Paris and her friend were already half in the bag when we sat down. When she wasn’t busy introducing herself to every guy that walked by, or grabbing yet another drink from the bar, her and her girlfriend were fixing each other’s faces… at the table. However the two of them were trumped by the Maid of Honor’s boyfriend, who hit on me.

Now, this is not to say I didn’t have a good time, because I did. The overall  company was terrific, and I had a lot of fun dancing with friends. I just wish I had been able to stay for the band.

On a totally unrelated note, I want to slap the Capitol and Somerville Theatres with some major slops. Hello! Milk won “Best Picture”! So why does the so-disgusting-that-nobodywants-to-go-there theatre in the Lexington have it and not them? You’d think with the company trying to bail the Capitol out of a financial situation you’d boot the Bollywood flick in favor of something your patrons would actually want to see. Yet neither Theatre has it. Well, fuck ’em. I’ll just pick up the DVD on Tuesday.

Almost all of what you point out is astonishingly accurate and it makes me wonder why I hadn’t looked at this in this light before. This article really did turn light on for me so far as this specific topic goes. However there is actually one particular position I’m not necessarily too cozy with so while I try to reconcile by using the main idea of the issue, let me see just what the most of your subscribers ought to point out.Very well done.
