Good News. Bad News. Whatever.
Feb 18th, 2009 by Babs

<div class=\"pavatar\">good-news-bad-news-whatever</div>

I’ve come to the conclusion that ADD and old age do not mix. It’s bad enough being a scatterbrain but the addition of senior moments results in very little getting accomplished — or, at the very least, the wrong things getting accomplished. :P

For example: I was supposed to get the color scheme to the Lavender Room laid out as well as install, activate, and configure a bunch of widgets/plugins before uploading some actual content. Instead I spent the day playing around Max’s site, after learning that an older theme I used here had been updated. I did get the scheme work done, but that’s about all. I was also supposed to exercise. Somehow I got distracted by a shiny heart rate meter I saw online.

The State portion of our tax refund arrived today. So after dragging the preteen to his doctor’s appointment, I went to Target and picked up a new phone. Living with one phone (even a cordless one) is a pain in the ass. Unfortunately they didn’t have the cheaper model recommended by Consumer Reports but $40 isn’t too bad. Once the Federal shows up we’ll get the struts replaced on the Taurus and, if there’s enough left over, get the transmission worked on. I’ve also been promised a new light for my aquarium, so that I may finally grow some decent plants to provide oxygen for the fish. 260 watts is a whole lot brighter than 48. If I time the lighting correctly we’ll have a fairly well lit livingroom at night, too boot.

Been browsing through Minuteman’s online course listing. They’ve finally got some courses on PHP and MySQL. They deal with the web site design end of things and while I love working on web sites, there’s not that much money in designing them these days. It should get my feet wet as far as the code goes, though. The course on starting an online crafting business looks interesting, too. *laughs* It’s a shame I can’t seem to make any real money doing the stuff I love.

One more thing. I was cleaning out some of my old computer files and found this:

The Gang

That should embarass the hell out of a couple of people on my f-list. Bwahahahaha!

Weekly Weigh In
Feb 16th, 2009 by Babs

I’ve lost a whole pound this week. I must admit I’m scratching my head, though. I got in two sets of strength training, more than 2.75 hours of aerobic activity, and my resting heart rate has obviously gone down (what used to bring my heart rate well into my aerobic range is now barely clearing my minimum). Yet, my body fat percentage has gone up. Since it’s my body fat that I’m primarlily focusing on, this is truly frustrating!

If that isn’t bad enough, I have to take a day off, today. Apparently couponing can be hazardous to your health. Who knew? I spent two hours reorganizing them after the preteen dumped the contents of my coupon caddy all over the floor… less than five minutes after I told him not to touch the damn thing. I was fine all day but about half an hour before I was done I found I couldn’t lift my left arm at all without experiencing a sharp pain in my shoulder. I’ve been taking Tylenol, which has helped a little, but I think I’m going to have to get one of the boys to dig out the heating pad.

WTF?
Feb 15th, 2009 by Babs

<div class=\"pavatar\">wtf</div>

Okay. If you read my last post you’ll recall I mentioned that I couldn’t watch “That ’70s Show” because it wouldn’t play on my computer. Well I had a similar problem today with another disk. The disk was recognized (unlike the other disk, which kept giving me a no disk in drive D error) but still wouldn’t play.

Anyway, I was busy moving stuff around my room when I came across the DVD/CD RW drive that Dell had sent me back when I first acquired this piece of crap and was having trouble with the drive. Long story short: I wasted three weeks swapping out drives, backing up my computer, and reinstalling the OS  when the problem was the frickin’ Roxio software Dell installed on it. I figured after all that they owed me, and I never returned the third drive.

So for shits and grins I decided to swap the drives. I don’t know what the problem is with the old drive, as 90% of the stuff I use it for works fine (I spent the last week ripping CDs and Simming with no issues), but the previously troublesome disks are playing problem-free, now. *headdesk*

Random Ramblings

This morning’s post is being brought to you by the following search terms: sex babs,  babs,  www.babspote.com,  “my beauty bars”,  bab’s.

I should be in bed, sleeping, right now but you-know-who is snoring louder than a mufflerless engine and is keeping me awake. :P

I got my taxes filed. I highly recommend H&R Block’s online tax filing. This year they’ve added free preparation and filing of Federal taxes to their offerings. It doesn’t have the bells and whistles that “Basic” has, and you still have to cough up the $30 to file State, but it did save me $19.95 $14.95 (or $12.95 if you were to upgrade to it from free). As usual, Glenn thinks we are getting $1000 less than we actually are. This keeps him from spending it all on shit we don’t really need.

After filing the taxes I tried to play the current disk we have of “That ’70s Show” but, like the last three disks of that series, it won’t play on my computer. So I ended up on Netflix, watching old school Knight Rider and listening to the boys talk trash about KITT. I’m sorry, but the new Knight Rider is nothing but an hour long commerical for Ford, the new KITT has the personality of a rock (Val Kilmer’s got nothing on Willaim Daniels) and there is very little, if any, bond between him and Michael. May it run its 13 eps and then die a painful death.

While watching Knight Rider I managed to get some knitting and crocheting done. I finally used up the last of the scraps in the rug I’m knitting, so that’s been set aside until I acquire more. Then I got a few more rows done on the afghan I’m working on for the livingroom. It’ll look really nice once we get new cushions for the sofa. I don’t know if I mentioned this in an earlier post, but I found a really cute (and easy) pattern for a “pleated” school girl skirt. As soon as I can find a nice yarn I plan on making it up. *crosses fingers I’ll have it done for Spring*

Both of the kitties are lying on my side of the bed, washing themselves. As funny as it is to watch I’m going to have to cut their bathtime short. I’m really tired.

Weekly Weigh In

Woot! Down almost half a pound! I’m starting to head the other way again!

I got most of my scheduled workouts in last week. I had to omit one cardio due to Ben and tribe having half a day (I did try to arrange it so I could workout before they arrived home but , ya know, shit happens.  I was also forced to omit one strength training because I was just too damn sore! I still managed to squeak in 2 hours of aerobic activity along with 5 sets with the weights, though. So I’m definately improving. Now I just need to convince my body fat that it can go. I’m at 33.3%
