A “new” toy for the P2P crowd?
Oct 23rd, 2007 by Babs

I’ve been hanging out at the Pirate’s Bay forum and finding much to say (pro and con) about PeerGuardian. Someone suggested for users of utorrent to drop the program and use a “good” ipfilter.dat file. Well, in an effort to find a “good” file I stumbled across this.

Supposedly you can use it to download various blacklists, then convert them to files that can be used by PeerGuardian and other IPblockers. Given that I couldn’t begin to figure out how to unblock an incorrectly blocked IP address via utorrent, and I’m already using PG, I’ve decided to give it a try.

It took me a bit of learning, but I managed to figure out how to download sources, create a list for PeerGuardian, and install it, so it should be a piece of cake for the computer savvy. šŸ™‚
