I’m about to teach myself Dreamweaver 8. Should I just shoot myself now and save myself the agony?
Dude. I’m going through that agony right alongside you. ^^;;
We’re masochists. >_>
Hey, if it provides the results I need, then baby make it hurt so good!
yes.
I detest Dreamweaver.
Can you recommend any other programs?
My requirements:
1. Some sort of modifiable template. I suck at tables and don’t have the patience to code from scratch, but give me a template and I can fairly easily figure out were I want the changes made.
2. Ease in updating. I’m primarily learning this for my business site, which is supposed to be updated weekly. I need to be able to update numerous pages quickly (to add or delete product), so that I can spend more time on CS and product.
I had heard that Dreamweaver can facilitate with both of these, but I’m always open to suggestions.
I’m pretty much a die-hard Microsoftie. I’ve used Front Page since 1999 and have found it meets the vast majority of my needs. The most recent version (2003) includes the ability to strip extraneous code.
Yes, Dreamweaver can do all that Front Page does, but I’ve found it counter-intuitive and cludgy to use for updating, and the version of Dreamweaver 8 I couldn’t even figure out how to access the website for updating – granted, I may have been having a bad week, but I had used an earlier version of it with far less difficulty.
There are templates available within Front Page (themes), as well as built-in tools for creating tables, etc.
Thanks! I’ll look into FrontPage, too.
