I was organizing my coupons today. I keep them filed in the Pirates of the Caribbean folders I bought last fall. While drooling over Captain Jack Sparrow, I thought of something.
I am an Oliverette! The Pirate King Thomas’ advisor on all things piratical and magickal, to be exact.
And I’ve got dreadlocks.
I should be embracing my inner pirate dammit!
So I’ve commissioned my friend Mary to make some dread beads for me (I’m hoping to have some available for sale at me store, too), and I’m going to go shopping for some durable cotton tees that I can convert into dread bands. I’ll start with those (and maybe a ruffled shirt) and see if I can start a trend around here.
I don’t see why the hell not. I’ve been noticing an increase in dread heads locally ever since I had mine started. Plus, if I remember my fashion history correctly, we should be coming ’round to pirate style soon, if not already. Didn’t the pirate look inspired by the Pirates of Penzance show up at the end of the 70′s (which is about where we are currently at fashion-wise)? I think the only thing that might have preceeded it is “50′s style as seen in Grease” look. *shrugs*
Oh well, I’ll either be a “trendsetter” or a freaky old lady. *laughs*
