The Great Gundam Wing Rewatch
Apr 30th, 2006 by Babs

The month of May 2006 is

The Great Gundam Wing Rewatch

Attention Gundam Wing fans, new and old, active and retired:

This month let’s have a fandom-wide event! You needn’t contribute anything but the time it takes to watch the Gundam Wing series in the month of May. When was the last time you watched the series in its entirety? It’s time for both nostalgia and fresh inspiration.

Let’s remind ourselves why we’re fans and get as many fanfic writers and readers, fan artists, and fandom lurkers to participate as possible. Together we can laugh at Trowa’s hair and count how many times Heero lands on his head. We can ponder the politics and contrast the philosophies. We can revisit all our favourite moments of the show. So dust off your DVD’s or your videos and join in the fun. The more the merrier!

Please pimp this as widely as you can.

No, I’m not dead

I just feel like it, though.

The new Dell is hooked up and cooking. It’s amazing how quite it is compared to both the laptop and my old PC. I almost could tell it was on. I spent the last few days installing the important stuff (The Sims, Trillian, pron). I’m still not done, though I transferred most of the crap from the back up DVDs from the old PC. Note to self: when using a back up program, please remember NOT to compress the files, otherwise you are fucked if you try to transfer them sans restore software. Speaking of which, Roxio sucks! They tease with a link to t a back up program, but when you click it you find you actually have to buy the upgrade. I’m debating whether or not to uninstall the damn thing and slap in Nero. That’s what I used to back up my files.

Does anyone know if it’s possible to reformat a USB flash drive? When I was tranferring my web site stuff from the laptop onto the PC I made the mistake of not cutting and pasting, then made the bigger mistake of deleting the file on the flash drive, which corrupted it. Another note to self: flash drives do not have recycle bins! Granted, with the formatting it’s only 8MBs of a 2GB drive, but still….

Am working with the mouse, but plan to switch over to my old track ball soon. The thighs aren’t quite as wide as they used to be *grin* and I keep catching myself trying to roll a non-existent ball with my thumb. I think I’ll wait a bit before cracking it open to install the old PC’s CD/DVD burner.

Ben is already eyeing the new computer, which has been named Xander (of DT, not PR). He’s pissed because I managed to pack the Sims I had created, but not his. :oP No one, but I will be touching it! Will be picking up a cheap router so he can use the laptop, while I’m online.

Oh, and on a totally unrelated note: I was turning the compost for the first time this year, this morning. Glenn said he had been doing it, but I found a ton of roots that had to be ripped up and a bunch of large rocks that smart ass kids have thrown into it. Anyhow, I discovered three carrots, each about 3 inches long (they are Nantes Half Long so that isn’t really small for them), had been growing in there. One is now sitting on my altar, impersonating a phallus. Yes, it looks THAT much like one! *laughs*

Virtual Yard Sale

Up for grabs today are two strips of memory. Both are Kingson Value RAM.

1. KVR266X72C25/512 ~ 512MB 266MHz DDR PC2100 ECC DIMM CL2.5

2. KVR333X64C25/1G ~ 1GB PC2700 CL2.5

Both are 184 pin DIMMs. Both are in their original packaging. I also have a second KVR266X72C25/512 that is still sitting in my original motherboard. All are free because even though they worked last time I checked them (5 months ago), I don’t know if they work now, nor do I know if they will work when they reach their destination because I don’t have any anti-static packaging.

If you’re interested in any of them please let me know ASAP!

Its status says it’s been shipped!!! *faints from the shock*

I guess they were able to meet the before-I-upgraded-the-video-card deadline after all. Just in the nick of time, too. I’m about to throw this piece of shit laptop against a wall. A big brick one. With spikes.

I suppose I better get my butt over to NewEgg and order my printer.

Oh the joys of motherhood.

Ben had his annual physical yesterday. Being a teen he was given the option of having me leave the room during his examination. An option I wish he had taken the doctor up on. What is it with teenage boys and hygeine? I’m sorry, but “When was the last time you washed these boxers?” is not the correct answer to the question “When was the last time you changed your underwear?”

The concerns we had over a lump he discovered near a nipple have been put to rest. Sort of. I’m not quite sure how I’m supposed to react to “It’s normal. A percentage of boys get them during breast development.” Other than maybe snicker. :o)
