Would someone please refresh my memory, please? Why did I join solitarywiccans again? I mean, I am Wiccan and I am solitary, but it seems that’s the only thing I have in common with some of the wackjobs that have been posting there, as of late.
I can handle the feminist who feels the Great Rite is sexist and violent, and apparently thinks she’s the only one on the face of the earth who truly understands the definition of “sexism”. She’s entitled to her opinions. It’s when practically every responding post is in agreement, that I have a problem. How are we supposed to be taken seriously within the Wiccan community if we accept everything that is presented to us without question? What happened to studying and forming ones own opinion/conclusion?
And exactly when the fuck did Communion become a part of Wiccan ritual?
In other news, I spent yesterday in Andover, partaking in this year’s PPD. Compared to last year, I found it sort of a let down, but still fun. If they’re posting their workshop schedule online I’m missing it. As a result had to miss some interesting workshops.
The music was fair and there wasn’t much in the way of variety when it came to vendors. All the book vendors had the same books. All the clothing sellers had ren-fest gear. Don’t even get me started on the gemstone sellers. The big thing this year? Those magnetic (hemetite?) “lightning beads”. All I heard (when the music wasn’t playing) was the clacking of those things. Naturaly, I broke down and bought a set for Jarret, which his brother broke later that day.
There was a guy named Fire Wolf who pranced between his booth and another, looking very much like a Boobah in his furry “eyelash” cape/coat. He was nice, but I didn’t care for his wares. I think he took it personally.
I received some advice from the owner of Bones & Flowers: avoid AzureGreen’s Store in a Box because you’ll end up looking like everyone else, and don’t drop ship (which I learned from eBay, but still do for a handful of items out of neccesity).
The puppeteers portraying the Lord and Lady during the procession had to be reminded that we are celebrating Mabon this week, not Beltane *grin*.
The guys selling the utility kilts were hot!!!!
I liked the fact that this year PPD had their own booth. Last year they just had a drop off point for the food donations and an unmanned information table. I picked up a purple pentacle and “Witches are Crafty” pins there.
Other than that there wasn’t much to do. By the time Jarret’s “I’m bored” became annoying we had only killed two hours. *shrug*
Oh well there’s always next year.
