In other news, I’ve got my store looking pretty much the way I want to it. Or, more acurately, the way I want it, within ability of what I have to work with. Either way it ain’t too bad. I just received a shipment from Knotty Boy, but I need them to confirm the prices on three items before I put them up for sale.
Thursday night I went to see DCI’s 2005 Classic Countdown, which contained footage of the top 12 favorite DCI drum corps performances since the organization was first founded in the mid seventies.
The first of my faves to be shown (from the ’70s) was the Kingmen of Anaheim, CA. As a kid, one of my fondest memories of the shows they hosted each year was the pause in the show so fans could watch the fireworks being shot off from nearby Disneyland.
Next up was the 1980s and The 27th Lancers (the Light Brigade’s predecessor). Sandy, our guard captain, had opted out of coming to the show. Good thing she did! At the end of Danny Boy, the flag line did this elaborate toss, to which my only response was “Fuck!” If Sandy had seen it, I guarantee she’d have us doing it next week! *grin*
The last treat for me was the Velvet Knights perfomance from 1992. Reason number one was because as a wee lassie I was in the colorguard of their cadet corps., the Squires. Reason number two was that I haven’t been entertained this much by a drum corps. since the Bridgemen. I wouldn’t call what they did traditional drum corps., but I didn’t really care! They made fun of a couple of “elite” drum corps. and obviously had a good time playing. I downloaded a copy of the performance, but unfortunately the video is rather crappy, otherwise I’d share.
Oh well, Glenn is screeching from the living room. I need to pick up some potting soil to compliment my compost. I hope to transplant a number of things outdorrs, if it’ll stop raining long enough.
