I went to my very first Pagan Pride Day today. It was kind of like a smallish version of Town Day. Glenn had a cow because we had to walk for a bit from our parking space to where the activities were being held. There were so many people!
Glenn showed his ignorance by going on and on about the water pipes that one seller had on display. He told everyone how he had to give them up for his kids. Unfortunately, neither my, nor the seller’s, efforts to get him to understand that water pipes aren’t just used for smoking pot, proved unsuccessful.
I picked up a goldtone head ring which I still have to mold to my head a bit better, a small box of Nag Champa incense (primarily because everyone was burning it and Ben was really annoyed by that *grin*), and a CD of a local act that performed at PPD. I also managed to snag a copy of Buckland’s “The Tree”, which appears to be out of print in order to create a demand for his new book “Buckland’s Book of Saxon Witchcraft”, which is due out at the end of the year.
Jarret fell in love with “Dorm Pets”, hand blown glass animals (modern day pet rocks). This year’s pet is a hedgehog, which he couldn’t keep his hands off, so I broke down and bought him one. I expect it to be lying in pieces any day now, but for now he loves it to death.
While we were checking out the “Dorm Pets”, I ran into a friend of mine who I did not know was a witch! It was very cool!
They held a Mabon circle as part of the festivities. I swear the High Priest looked an awful lot like the brother of one of my former co-workers, and since I knew said brother is Wiccan it was a very good possibility he could have been him. Alas, Glenn was getting impatient so I didn’t get a chance to hang around after the circle to ask him.
All in all it was an enjoyable experience and one I’m willing to repeat next year.
I was about ready to wrap this up when Ben came in and announced there were a bunch of teens hanging out in the back of our parking lot. Since there’s only one teen living here, other than Ben, and he doesn’t own a car (let alone two), it was obviously a group that didn’t belong here. *turns off my car’s panic alarm after watching teens scatter* Wow! I honestly didn’t think they could move that fast! *evil grin*
