I’m such a freak!

I spent the day in bed (long story involving Glenn, and not in a good way. I may tell the story someday). While I was there, chewing on a piece of Cold-Eze gum, I decided to add some length to my gum wrapper chain.
    How many people remember those?
Anyhow, I started mine back when I was 12; when my parents divorced. It is now 34 feet long and contains many a no longer in existence gum wrapper. I lost count as to how many actual wrappers have gone into making it. Each year I try to make it longer with the ultimate goal being making it long enough to be the sole garland on our Yule/Xmas tree.
It’s a real treat looking over it each year, even when I have to do repair work. There’s the hundred plus Doublemint wrappers my mother contributed before she died. She’d buy the value packs with like 20 sticks in them, so they are mostly white with just a hint of color. There’s my Carefree Sugarless wrappers from when they still made both a chewing and bubble gum, and both were available in several different flavors. And how many remember Beech-Nut gum? I loved the Fruit Stripe Zebra! I’ve got Sweet & Low gum wrappers from my Grandmother when she was diagnosed a diabetic (before she decided trying to control it via diet alone was too much of a hassle and started using insulin), the short-lived Sticklets wrappers, and my personal faves: wrappers from the chocolate and eggnog flavored gums Avon sold one Christmas, along with their gum holders.
*sigh* I don’t know how close I’ll get to my goal. Finding gum in stick form is hard enough these days, trying to find it with both the outer wrapper and the inner foil/paper wrapper is nearly impossible! *reminisces about making a wish and trying to peel the foil from the wax paper in one piece* But I will keep trying! *tries to discreetly spit out another piece of Cold-Eze gum* Please don’t tell my dentist! I’m not really supposed to be chewing gum because it stresses my jaw and causes my right eardrum to click and spasm. *sheepish grin*

Because I know someone might ask…..

Thanks to fablespinner I decided to try and sign up with Gaia again. Apparently my faster cable connection has improved things as I was actually able to get in this time!
My name is Maxwell_Pink (make sure to include the underscore or you’ll get the account I tried to create back in July, but couldn’t because Gaia caused my computer to lock up, and I don’t feel like dealing with support to get access to it). Here’s my avatar:

I’m bummed that dreadlocks are not a hairstyle option, and let them them know that, along with the fact that I’m not too happy with the stereotypical “Witch” clothing. We’ll see what happens. Now I just need to get some decent clothes!

I should’ve stayed in bed!

I was up at 6am to get the boys up and ready for school. Ben finally rose about 6:30. Jarret took another half an hour. I was frantically running about, trying to make sure everyone has gotten dressed, eaten and taken their medications, and that I, myself was ready, early, because I knew that most of the sidewalks wouldn’t be shoveled. Everyone left at their normal time. *sigh*
The Iceball of Wrath goes to my super, who yelled at me yesterday for “allowing” my boys to mess up the pathways that he ahd spent “hours” snowblowing. Now first of all, my boys hadn’t step foot out front since the storm began Friday night. They were too busy sledding down the 6-foot high mountain of snow the plows piled up against my apartment wall, in back. Secondly, all he did was snowblow the walks from the street to the building entrances. He never touched the sidewalks, thus we had to walk in the street to the end of Grove.
I nearly had a heart attack when we reached the house on the corner of Summer and Brattle: for the first time in three years it had actually been shoveled! It only took the owner’s daughter to move into it to get it done. However the sidewalk being clear was a moot point as they only cleared from the crosswalk to each of the house’s entrances. You still have to climb a four foot hill to get to the walk!
By 8:00 we were about a third of our way to the school, and I had decided that we weren’t going to be on time, when one of Glenn’s friends drove by and offered us a ride. This turned out to be a very good thing, as I found walking back down later, only a third of the sidewalks had been cleared. We arrived at the school a few minutes after to find a nearly empty cafetorium. By first bell, Jarret was one of four students in his class to have arrived. I guess everyone else decided to stay home. Considering what I had to go through to get us there, I wish I had, too!
Now I’m going back to bed, but before I do: If you ever get the chance, check out the 1999 version of Oklahoma. Hugh Jackman may not be as pumped up as he is in the role of Wolverine, but he still looks quite hot shirtless. *fans self* Oh, and he has a pretty good singing voice, too!
